Iowa State University (2011-2015)
I graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Industrial Design and minor in Entrepreneurship, where I acquired a strong foundation in product design principles. My education encompassed essential elements such as ergonomics, product modeling and prototyping, manufacturing, and rendering.
While formally studying Industrial Design, my passion for User Experience (UX) formed during my tenure as a Co-op and Intern at John Deere. This invaluable experience allowed me to seamlessly integrate my industrial design background into UX principles, shaping my journey towards becoming a seasoned Product Designer.

Student Project
Allsteel partnered with Iowa State in the Fall of 2013 to have students design a new line of office furniture. Following a creative brief, I performed customer research and created a CAD model. I was selected as a representative of Iowa State Design to present student concepts at Allsteel's headquarters. This experience offered me professional practices that I use today.
Design office furniture that will support the interaction between humans and the technology we use in the workplace, by allowing each user to interact with their environment in a natural and unique fashion.

Muji Safety Razor
Student Project
Muji is a company that prides itself on clean, simplistic design and hosts a design competition every year. For my submission, I designed a traditional safety razor with modern inspirations. In four short weeks, I was able to go from a project brief to a functioning prototype to present and demonstrate.
Long lasting design for living
Muji provided only this statement for design submissions. The first task was to interpret the meaning of this phrase, and to me, this meant tradition and heritage. I wanted my design to reflect the kind of tradition that can only come from something passed on from one generation to the next...like a father teaching his son to shave for the first time.

Troxel Bench
Student Project
Iowa State University requested the work of Industrial Design students to build custom benches for a new building installation. During Summer 2013, our team of five designed and manufactured sustainably built, locally supplied benches. The opportunity to work rapidly through the entire manufacturing process while still in college was incredibly rewarding and filled with several unique challenges.
